I made the mistake of saying to Dan after Halloween, "I know October was crazy and every weekend there was something, but November should be a lot calmer." Not so much. The last two weeks have felt even more hectic than before, and I think I've realized that's not going to change. The good news is, we finally got our house painted!! (The same color, but the walls look so new and bright after not being painted for 10 years!) Of course it didn't occur to me until the day before the painters arrived that we needed to move half of our belongings. We were also very happy this week to hear that my friend Vanessa had her baby! He is so adorable and I am extremely jealous that Vanessa's pregnancy is over (Dan reminded me that we are not quite ready for our baby to arrive even if I am very over being pregnant!)
Tyler had two playdates this week - one with Baby Lily and one at our house with his friends, Noah, Alex, Zachary, and Austin. He visited my parents twice, and on Friday he fell asleep on the way home at 6:00 (and slept through the night!) The problem was that the next day he was up for 16 hours straight (a new record). Dan was gone for ten of those hours, attending a 1st birthday party for his friend Sachin's daughter, then visiting his friend Marco. Tyler and I had a Target date and the next day I had a photo shoot for a friend from high school. We are so happy that holiday music is now playing on the radio! I have resisted decorating for Christmas so far, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to wait until the day after Thanksgiving. :-)
About two weeks ago, Dan casually said to his boss, "Oh, by the way...my wife and I are having a baby next month." (Let's not forget this is the same man who walked into a jewelry store on a Wednesday in 2008 to buy me a ring and said, "I'm planning to propose on Monday out of the country.") ;-) So he was especially surprised when he arrived at his 10:00 meeting to find that they were really having a surprise shower for him! SO sweet!
I used to have these photos on the walls in our kitchen but when I took them down for the walls to be painted, I realized I love how they look grouped like this! Now we'll have more wall space for new frames and pictures of the baby!! :-)
