Week 26 - Tyler is 6 Months Old!

This week Tyler and I met up with Carrie (and Baby Joey) & Sara (and Baby Emma) for the "Mommy & Baby" movie. This month they were showing Crazy, Stupid, Love. Tyler had one little meltdown when I tried to make him go to sleep but he ended up sleeping for about 40 minutes of the movie. We look forward to going again next month!

We were able to visit Chrissy & Brayden this week and we had a Starbucks date with Katy & Baby William. We celebrated Uncle Shane's 34th birthday and got to see the cover of the book he wrote on computer science - so exciting! The book is being published by Springer Publishing and should be available at the end of November.

Dan's mom also had a birthday this week and we are looking forward to celebrating this weekend! Dan and I were able to come to an agreement on Tyler's first Halloween costume fairly easily. Tyler will be a puppy dog! We've already tried on the costume three times :-) The funniest costume we found at Target (which was a bit too big for Tyler) was a garden nome, complete with a white beard!

Lately, Tyler has been impressing people with his special talent! If I say, "Tyler, give mama a kiss," he will look at me, grab the back of my head with both hands, pull my hair, and give me a big kiss on the cheek. It is absolutely adorable!!

Week 25

As soon as we got used to the idea of Tyler having one tooth, we realized that he now has TWO!

We went to Dan's mom's new house to visit with her and Tyler's Aunt Caroline, who was visiting from California. Tyler also attended Brayden's 3rd birthday party, which was a pirate party. :-) He had a great time at his playdate with baby Colin and we've enjoyed many walks using Tyler's new City Mini stroller.

I attended my first neighborhood "moms only" event. It was very strange to see all of the moms without their babies but it was a lot of fun. I also got to spend some time shopping at the mall before meeting up with my friends (and former grad school partners) Barbara & Leigh at The Cheesecake Factory. It's been a busy week!

Week 24

We have a tooth! We've seen the little white dots on Tyler's gums for weeks but now one of his bottom teeth is out! Very exciting :-) Tyler is doing a great job sitting up by himself. However, we have to always be right next to him, ready to catch him when he starts to fall backwards or to the side. He enjoyed watching his first Redskins game & he loves to play with his new blocks.

Dan loves his skull pajama pants & loves for Tyler to wear skulls too. He purchased a number of skull outfits and bibs when I was pregnant and Tyler is finally able to wear the bigger ones. Dan has also decided that Tyler needs to be wearing Ravens gear on Sundays. He found some cute outfits that should be arriving very soon. :-)

This week we had a great visit with Lomy, Dorothy, and Betty. Julie came over one day and Tyler showed off his big belly laugh. We continue to see my parents at least three times a week during the middle of the day, which is great for Tyler and for me too. :-) Dan and I enjoyed a date night to our favorite Japanese steakhouse. I also got my hair cut for the first time in four months! Finally, Tyler and I also enjoyed our third neighborhood baby playdate.

Week 23

This week we celebrated my mom's birthday and Tyler got to spend some time with his cousin Ben. Tyler also got to see Dan's mom's new house! She chose a beautiful house & I can't believe I forgot to take pictures during our visit (so unlike me). I will definitely take some next time.

We visited Chrissy & Brayden this week, we had our weekly lunch with my mom at Tony's, and we met a former co-worker of mine for a Starbucks date. Tyler also got to meet Dan's good friend, Marco! There was a lot of rain this week so we spent more time than usual in the house. That may be good practice for any snowstorms that come this winter.

Tyler started eating food this week! He wasn't crazy about rice cereal, or sweet potatoes, or bananas. He loves to roll over and then roll back. When he's lying flat on the ground he keeps lifting his head as if he wants to do a sit up. He is such a happy boy and we love hearing him giggle!

Week 22

This week Tyler and I took it easy as we returned from the beach. My mom went back to work part-time but we are lucky to still be able to see her in the middle of the day! Tyler has discovered that he likes to pull his pacifier out of his mouth (he hasn't quite figured out how to get it back in). He also loves to put his feet in his mouth! He has switched to size 3 diapers and loves to sleep on his side - SO cute!
