Father's Day

Father's Day was a good one this year!  We got to celebrate with my dad a few days before (with signs & a little gift!) and then with the yummiest cupcakes a few days after.  Dan and Tyler drove to Hilton Head on Father's Day this year (for their third annual "Bro Trip") but we got to spend time with them before they left!  We had notes and cards ready for Dan to see when he woke up, & Brady and I picked up Panera takeout so we could sit all together for lunch.  While we were eating lunch, a butterfly (that looked just like the one pictured below) knocked into our sliding glass door.  Because of the sound, it made me look over, & then I also noticed a white butterfly flying in our yard.  It was a special moment that made me think about and remember Dan's dad.

I love these comparison photos and the fact that Brady is wearing the shirt that Tyler was wearing in the first photo...

Tyler posted a photo & message for Dan on his mountain biking page.  I didn't even notice that he had typed, "Happy Birthday," instead of, "Happy Father's Day" until he posted the photo a second time and wrote, "Happy Father's Day Dad.  I accidentally said birthday.  I love you.  Best Dad Ever."

The cards & signs this year were so cute!  I can't get over Brady's amazing handwriting!

I love all of these photos of Dan & my dad...

Whenever Dan has his cereal in the morning, Brady wants to have his cereal too...

The Last Day of School!

Tyler had a great last day of 6th grade & Brady had a great last day of 1st grade!  Poor Brady had to miss school on Monday & Tuesday (and he had to go to the doctor both of those days!) but thankfully he was able to go on Wednesday & Thursday, which were both half days.  I got to pick him up early on Wednesday because the first graders had a picnic, & then on Thursday he was done at 12:30.  Tyler got out early on both Monday & Tuesday & he didn't have to go to school on Wednesday.  (In middle school, if you passed the SOL in a particular subject or you had already completed your final project, you could be absent for the final class block.)  On Thursday I was able to pick Tyler up early after his first block & we had lunch together at Subway.  Then I dropped him off at home with Dan & I picked up Brady from school.  We went straight to Target and he was able to get one of the lego fire stations he's been wanting.  We are so proud of both of our boys for having such a successful school year!  We can't believe Tyler is going to be a 7th grader in August & Brady is going to be a 2nd grader!

We are so proud of Tyler for earning a special award for ending the school year with all As and Bs...

I love Brady's beautiful artwork from school and having the boys' work & awards on display...

Brady had two amazing teachers this year (his special education teacher & his first grade teacher!) and we found cute gifts & cards for them, along with gift cards.  Brady had so many people helping to make his first grade year so wonderful, so he ended up bringing ten thank you cards and gift cards to school to pass out!

I love these selfies with my boys once they were officially done with the school year!

I'm so glad I got a picture of Brady with his first grade teacher!  (I already had a great photo of him with his special education teacher from earlier in the year!)  Of course he wasn't really in the mood for photos at the end of the year picnic...but he really enjoyed his popsicle!  All of the first grade teachers had a box of popsicles to pass out to their students.  Once Brady finished the popsicle from his teacher, he walked over to another first grade teacher & said, "popsicle!"  She sweetly patted his head & sent him on his way, so he found another first grade teacher who gave him a popsicle.  I think he was the only first grader who got to have two!

I was so excited to see the boys' yearbooks & Brady brought home the most adorable keepsake!  When he was the star student weeks ago, he and his classmates filled out a worksheet about why he is special.  Their words & photos are SO cute & true!  We will definitely be keeping this book forever!  Brady had the most wonderful year in 1st grade & the most kind & welcoming students & teachers.  We are so grateful!
