On Friday night, at the beginning of Memorial Day weekend, Dan casually mentioned going to the beach. At first, we thought just he and Tyler would go, because Brady had been sick Thursday & Friday. By Saturday, though, Brady seemed to be just fine (though he had to miss gymnastics, sadly!) We decided at 4 o'clock to give him his third covid test, and once that one was negative, we booked a hotel, packed, & headed to the beach! One reason Dan wanted us to move to Richmond, was so that we would be closer to the beach! It definitely is nice only having to drive two hours to get there!
While we didn't love the place where we stayed (there were very little options going at the last minute!) the location was great & we definitely know where we want to stay the next time we go! Our first night, we walked around & did some shopping (Tyler bought some new necklaces!) & had dinner at a pizza place. I don't know if the four of us have ever sat in a restaurant together, because of the pandemic & Brady always wanting to be on the move, but he did better than we anticipated! Thankfully we all slept fairly well & the next morning, Brady and I went to the hotel pool. I soon found out it wasn't open yet and we had to leave, but Brady handled it well. I told him we were heading to the beach!
Brady loved the ocean! He wanted me to hold him the entire time & he kept singing, "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and saying, "Go fish go!" over & over again. He loved the waves! We rented an umbrella and made sand castles, then took a break for lunch. Brady did great at the outdoor restaurant we chose! The seats were swings & the boys loved having shrimp (for Tyler!), burgers (for Dan & Brady), & fries. Then we headed back to the beach! After awhile, we decided to go to the hotel pool. After that, Tyler & Dan went shopping & Brady & I took naps! We all relaxed a little bit, then we got ice cream & headed home. It was such a fun, last minute trip, & definitely the highlight of our weekend! We can't wait to go back!
