A Brady Update

Yesterday was a big day for Brady!  He has had cavities on his front teeth since he was one (though one of them was barely noticeable!) and he finally got them fixed.  He has been going to the same dentist for four years, and she felt he was ready to get the work done.  He did such an amazing job and I was SO proud of him!  Luckily we just discovered the show "Trash Truck" on netflix (thanks to my friend, Vanessa, who mentioned that her kids like it!) so he was able to watch that while the dentist worked on his teeth.  Thankfully it was a very quick appointment and we were so happy and relieved afterwards!

Also, at the end of January, Brady was diagnosed with autism.   This was not a surprise to us.  Even though I had asked his pediatrician (who we really like a lot!) since he was two if he thought Brady may be on the autism spectrum, and he truly did not think that he was, once Brady turned four and still wasn't talking much, we really started to wonder.  After taking him to a new pediatrician once we moved, we decided to have Brady seen by a developmental doctor before going to kindergarten.  We knew that if he had autism, it would be very important to have that included on his IEP.  Thankfully we were able to get an appointment with a developmental doctor at the end of January.  Ever since Brady's diagnosis, we have been busy filling out forms to set up ABA services, which hopefully will start soon.

We absolutely love Brady exactly as he is, and we can't imagine him being any different.  We think he is perfect and have always viewed him as a gift!  We, of course, want him to be able to communicate with words to help him interact with friends and family.  But he has always done an amazing job letting us know his wants and needs!  We are amazed by his progress, especially over the past year and a half, and know that he is going to continue to progress in amazing ways.

I love these pictures below so much!  Brady is such a sweet boy and I just love holding his hand.  He was watching a worker when we were in his dentist's building, and he grabbed my hand with both of his hands.  It was so cute!  I also love how he sits in his stroller when we are shopping!  The other day he was carrying multiple items when he fell asleep.  It made me remember when he was so small years ago, sitting in a Harris Teeter cart, when he fell asleep.  Grocery shopping can be exhausting at times.  :-)

We love seeing pictures of Brady at school & photos of his artwork!  This week, we also got a video of him playing with bubbles!  "Bubbles" has been one of his favorite words this week! :-)
