Basketball

Because of the spring like weather we've had this winter, Tyler and Brady have been able to spend a lot of time at our neighborhood basketball court.  They are both (like their dad!) very good basketball players!  One day I took Brady and he kept copying a little girl...if she did a cartwheel, he did one.  If she took her shoes off, he took his off too.  She was so sweet to him and kept saying, "Good job, Brady!" to which he replied, "Good job, Brady."  (So sweet!)  She said, "I see Tyler and your husband here a lot, and now Brady is here, so you're kind of like a basketball family."  :-)  I got to chatting with her dad and we realized that we both graduated from JMU the same year and even lived in the same apartment complex our junior and senior year!  (Small world!)  The little girl kept counting how many baskets Brady made and she counted 70!  I wasn't sure if I could believe it, until the next time we went to the court with my parents & Brady made 80 baskets!

One day the boys and I went to the court with Dan, and Dan kept making three point shots over and over again.  The boys were shooting well, too, so we decided to try to get a video where they all made their shots.  Dan would always go first and then Tyler would start laughing, which would mess up his shot!  He had a good sense of humor about it and we got some really funny videos!

Tyler is also playing in a league now on Sundays!

More January Photos

 

After the holidays, I usually take fewer photos and videos, but I feel like I took more this January than in the past!  I have even been doing some winter photo shoots!  I am now the official photographer at Brady's gymnastics gym, which is keeping me busy!

January Fun

This month Tyler went to his friend Keller's birthday party & they attended a basketball game at the University of Richmond!  While he was gone, Dan and I took Brady to a Mexican restaurant in our town, where he had perfect behavior!  My cousin's wife, Christine, came over with her twins one day, & Brady discovered his love for paper airplanes.  Thanks to some nice weather, the boys got to spend some time at our neighborhood basketball court, and I got my hair colored!  Brady and I met up with Vanessa, Milton, & Ella for some yummy shakes on a teacher workday, & Tyler went to his friend Sawyer's house.  Vanessa and I also had a dinner date at our favorite pizza place, Bottom's Up, to celebrate her birthday (which was in July!)  I also went to a local Mexian restaurant with my neighbor, Jess, & had a coffee date with my neighbor Allison & her daughter, Madelyn!

Brady will now say, "It's an airplane," when he hears an airplane flying near our house.  He used to just say, "Airplane!"  He will do this for any vehicle he sees, which is very exciting!  We love hearing him use complete sentences.  He also knows his birthday and will say, "December 22nd!" if we ask him.  He's been saying, "December all gone," over and over again.

Coming across old photos...

Brady saw this one and I said, "Who is this?" and he said, "Mama!"

Then I said, "What am I holding?" and he said, "Owl!"  I told him it was actually a monkey (that I got to hold during a trip to Mexico in the summer of 2006!)

I love this photo of me, my mom, and my older brother, Shane!  It was the night of my mom's 10 year high school reunion.  There is another version of this photo I may have posted before, where I have a sad face (probably knowing my mom was about to go somewhere without me!)  But I love this version where I am smiling!  I think I look like Tyler!  And my mom looks so beautiful!

I can't believe our nephew, Ben, turned 14 this month!  I will never forget the day he was born.  I woke up in Charleston, South Carolina, where I was visiting my good friend, Megan.  My mom either called me or texted me and said, "You're going to be an aunt today!"  I remember sitting in the airport going through tons of boy names, trying to think of what his name was going to be.  I'll never forget my dad calling to tell me that Benjamin had been born, and what his name was.  My brother, Shane, and my sister-in-law, Kristen, picked a beautiful name, and we've loved watching Ben grow over these past 14 years!

I got to meet him the day after he was born & it was one of my happiest days!
