Week 21 - Beach Trip! :-)

I must admit that I didn't feel like a beach trip was a good idea this year. But my husband loves the beach and had to go, so I did some research to find a place that would work for us. The Surf Side Hotel was perfect! We stayed in an oceanfront room with the most gorgeous view. Best of all, the room had a two person jacuzzi tub right next to the sliding glass door. Tyler thought it was his own personal swimming pool :-) The trip worked out better than I ever imagined it would and it was so nice to have the pool and the beach so close. We had a wonderful time and it was SO nice to spend so much time with my two boys.

I'm so glad my friend Barbara told me to get a beach tent for Tyler. He took his morning nap in the tent every day except for one! He loved the pool and didn't seem bothered by the cold water. We loved seeing him kick and splash. We can't wait to go back next year!

We feel very fortunate that the hurricane held off until the end of our trip. We were supposed to check out Thursday morning but when we found out on Wednesday night that everyone was being told to leave in the morning, we were really worried about the traffic. We decided to pack up and we left at 10:30, returning home at 3:20 a.m. Tyler slept all but 15 minutes. Dan was such a trooper while packing up the car, driving the entire way, and then unpacking (we had A LOT of stuff!)

Dan and I have always been very spoiled when we return from our vacations because my mom cleans our house from top to bottom and fills vases all over the house with roses. We walked in and looked around, amazed at our "new" house! She is so wonderful! We know all of Tyler's grandparents were missing him but we sent pictures every day. While getting his picture taken, Tyler LOVES to look away as soon as the flash goes off. He also enjoys looking down at his feet. We managed to catch a few of his smiles though. :-) My mom had beach pictures already framed around the house!

Week 20

This week Tyler & I took a trip to Ashburn to visit our good friends! Tyler also spent time with Grandma & Grandpa while I saw the movie The Help with my school's book club. I loved the book & the movie was great too! We had a visit from Dan's mom who is back from her trip. She traveled to Finland to visit her family and brought Tyler some adorable clothing & magnetic blocks. We spent an afternoon with Vanessa and her boyfriend, Adam, who came up from Richmond.

Week 19

Tyler spent the day with my parents while I went out of town to visit my friend, Vanessa. Dan & I celebrated our two year wedding anniversary at the Melting Pot and I spent my first night away from Tyler.

We visited Chrissy, Brayden, & Mike, and Crystal, Nathaniel, & baby Mason. We also attended our second neighborhood playdate with 13 other moms and babies, which was very fun!

Tyler's eyes have changed from being very gray to very brown. He has started rolling again after taking a long break. He is now big enough to wear the whale outfit he received from his Finnish relatives. :-)

The Best Anniversary Gift :-)

I was finally able to catch one of Tyler's giggle fits on camera! It is most definitely my favorite sound in the whole world. Tyler must have been listening when I told him it's his mommy and daddy's two year wedding anniversary :-)

Week 18

This week we met up with friends at a nearby mall for a concert (for some reason I was expecting singing dinosaurs). Tyler also got to meet Katie, who was visiting from Italy! I enjoyed having dinner with Katie & Julie & seeing Bridesmaids (my first post-baby movie!) with a friend.

Tyler loves to grab his feet and he's enjoying his new rainforest play gym. He likes to grab the monkey and put it directly into his mouth. :-) He also loves to pet Jenna!!
