June 22nd

June 22nd is a very special day!  It is my niece Julia's birthday and Brady's half birthday!  This year, Julia turned 6 and Brady is now 2 and a half!  We had so much fun at Julia's birthday party.  :-)  I wanted to take a picture of her with all of her party guests, and I love how they all turned out!  I'm so glad my sister-in-law, Kristen, took a picture of me with the birthday girl.  :-)

I take Brady's carebear picture every three months, and taking his picture this month wasn't easy!  Tyler ended up having to help me.  :-)  When I went to add his two and a half year photo to his carebear picture album, I realized that I dressed him in almost the exact same outfit for his one and a half year photo.  Oops!  His hair has grown so much in a year!  I'm starting to think about getting his hair cut for the first time.  ;-)

Now that he's two and a half, Brady has learned how to get past our baby gate to go downstairs.  Thankfully we are able to catch him 95% of the time (and we will be shopping for a new gate very soon!)  He is able to go downstairs on his own for the most part, but we aren't ready for that!  At the playground yesterday, he climbed up the slide all by himself.  We aren't ready for that either!  He has been saying, "dada" nonstop, which we love.  He also said, "Gaga" very clearly this week.  We love getting to hear his sweet little voice more and more now.  He wants to be outside every minute of every day.  :-)

Father's Day

I think Dan had a very happy Father's Day!!  The boys were adorable in their matching, "My Dad is Rad" shirts and they made the cutest cards for Dan (Brady did a lot of drawing!)  My mom and dad were so, so kind to play with Brady while Dan, Tyler, and I met Dan's mom at our favorite Mexican restaurant.  We hadn't seen her in a few weeks because she'd been traveling.  Tyler did such a great job at the restaurant and seemed to love all of the extra attention.  :-)  When we got back to my parents' house, my dad opened his cards and we took a few pictures before Brady was ready for a nap!  We were able to relax a little while Brady slept then we too the boys to the pool!  It was a great day!  :-)

1st Grade Graduate

Tyler had so much fun during the end of the year activities at school.  They had Field Day and a really fun end of the year party with a Hawaiian theme!  I'm so thankful my parents were able to watch Brady so I could attend the party!  All of the students made beautiful leis and enjoyed "volcano" sundaes!  They also took turns putting a lei on their teacher as they left the classroom to go to PE.  Each lei had some of her favorite candy, as well as a photo of the student & a gift card.  It was so, so sweet, and I'm so glad I was there to see it!  :-)

Tyler brought a vase home full of soil a week or so ago, and we've been watering it daily.  We were all so excited when his seeds started to grow!  We still have his plant from his Mother's Day event at preschool years ago, and I love seeing both plants side by side.  :-)  Tyler got a special "Class Author" certificate at the end of the year, and when he answered questions about first grade, he said his favorite thing to eat at lunch was cheese sticks.  :-)  His favorite thing to play at recess was tag, and his favorite things at school were recess and art.  Some of his best friends in class were Noah S., Grant, Caleb, Jackson, Armondo, and Caydence.  :-)  When he was the Star of the Week, his classmates wrote sweet notes to him that his teacher put together in a book for Tyler to keep.  His classmates described him as being nice, cool, handsome, funny, and intelligent.  And they wrote that he follows the three R's at school!  So sweet!  :-)

We can't believe that Tyler's first grade year has come to an end.  He had such a great year, and we couldn't be happier with his school!  We are so thankful that he had such a wonderful teacher this year (he has been so, so lucky to have such great teachers three years in a row!)  He has told us that he is going to miss Mrs. K so, so much next year!  She was always so sweet to him, and he learned so much this year!  We are so amazed at his reading and writing skills, and love how creative he is.  We especially loved the warm up worksheets he did this year (we learned so much about Tyler through those worksheets and will keep them forever!) and we loved all of his teacher's thoughtful notes to him when he shared his thoughts and ideas.  We will always be thankful to Mrs. K for making Tyler's first grade year so wonderful!  :-)

When Tyler told us that he wanted to enter the yearbook decorating contest for the second year in a row, we told him we thought that was a great idea because he's a wonderful artist.  However, we tried to delicately warn him that it was very unlikely that he would win the contest two years in a row.  (He won as a kindergartner and his yearbook cover was shown on the back of the yearbook!)  Well, it turns out he won this year too!  Last year, we didn't find out he had won until we saw the yearbook.  This year, back in November he told us, "I won the yearbook competition.  They showed my picture on the morning announcements.  I dabbed twice."  :-)  We are so proud of him for creating a colorful and creative picture to show "Healthy Huskies" (his school's mascot!)  :-)

We love our soon-to-be second grader!!  :-)

Little Gym Graduate

Brady finished up his class at the Little Gym this week!  I had so much fun watching him during class (when I wasn't chasing him out the door!)  Dan was able to go to two of his classes this year, and Tyler attended a music class with Brady, which we could go to when we missed his regular class.  We made some new friends, and Brady seemed to especially enjoy the balls, bubbles, balance beams, and basketball hoop.  We are very proud of him!  :-)

The group shot of him with his little friends on "showcase" day cracks us up!  I think he was trying to fit between two of the mats (which he often enjoyed doing during class each week) and then he was attempting a forward roll.  Silly boy!  :-)

On the last day of class, he only tried to escape twice!  :-)

"Dada"

Brady is finally saying "Dada" and we are thrilled!  He has said it over and over again the past few days, and I finally caught it on video!  :-)

(He woke up from his extra long nap with super crazy hair, and instead of wetting it, I decided to try a little ponytail for the first time.  I thought he looked adorable!  Tyler was not a fan of the look, but I thought Brady looked like a cute little surfer!)  :-)
