Tyler is going to be a BIG BROTHER in December!!! We are so, so happy and extremely thankful to be expecting a baby. :-)
I woke up on Thursday, April 16th feeling very, very sick. I had been feeling awful all week, dealing with a cough, sore throat, and headache. I assumed it was a virus but when I woke up that morning I knew I had to go see my doctor. I told Dan he wouldn't be able to go into work because I didn't think I could even feed Tyler breakfast. I knew it was possible that I was pregnant but I hadn't planned to take a test for another week. Worried that I may have strep throat, and that my doctor would want to prescribe me an antibiotic, I figured I should take a pregnancy test just in case. I quickly saw that it was negative, put the test in our guest room so Dan wouldn't see what I was up to, and went downstairs. After three hours on the couch, I went upstairs to get ready for my doctor's appointment. I grabbed the test to throw it away and when I glanced at it again, I saw a very faint line. I knew immediately that I was pregnant! I called Dan upstairs to tell him, took another test, which had the same result, and went to my appointment. "You have influenza," the doctor said. It wasn't the way I had hoped to start my pregnancy but she assured me that the baby would be fine. I couldn't take an antibiotic and she said I needed to allow my fever to break on its own. It was a miserable day physically and a very happy day emotionally! :-)
April 20th - 4 weeks pregnant & finally over the flu!
May 18th - 8 weeks pregnant!
I started to feel nauseous during week six but I still felt extremely anxious about our eight week ultrasound. We so desperately wanted to see our baby and their beating heart. I was relieved that Dan and I couldn't see the ultrasound screen during my appointment. We just waited then heard the doctor say, "There's a little someone in here! Just one someone. With a heartbeat!" We were soooo happy and relieved. She turned the screen around so we could see, and we couldn't believe how much our baby looked like a baby at just 8 weeks! Their measurement was only one day off and when I had a quick second, I texted my mom and wrote, "Heartbeat!!!! :-)" Dan and I went to Sweetwater to celebrate then went to my parents' house to tell Tyler. He knew I had been feeling sick and was going to see a doctor. We finally were able to tell him, "It's a baby! You're going to be a big brother!"

The next day we had a playdate with my friends, Jen & Michelle, and their children. After about twenty minutes, Tyler marched over and said, "There's a baby in my mommy's belly." When they said, "What?!" he said, "There's a baby in my mommy's belly." Then he covered his ears with his hands when they started screaming. :-)
Though I continued to feel sick as the weeks went by, we were very anxious for our next ultrasound at 11 weeks. Seconds after the ultrasound began, we saw our baby on the screen looking SO much bigger than the last time we saw them. :-) We were so relieved and loved being able to hear their heartbeat for the first time! Their measurement perfectly matched their due date - December 28th! :-)
June 15th - 12 weeks pregnant and definitely starting to show!
July 13th - 16 weeks & really showing!
Tyler went with me to my 16 week appointment and loved hearing the heartbeat of his "brother/sister" (his adorable name for the baby!!)
