She Loves You Ya Ya Ya

Tyler loves The Beatles.  He always sings, "I love you ya ya ya," so my mom got him a Beatles cd.  We listen to it every time we are in the car and he always requests that we listen to "She Loves You Ya Ya Ya" first.  :-)  It is a great song.

Tyler made it through an entire soccer class!  I guess the third time was the charm.  :-)  I loved watching him play and sharing the video (below) with Dan and Tyler's grandparents.  I love how he yells, "I'll get it!  I'll get it!"  The ending is so funny.

Tyler and Dan got their hair cut over the weekend then I got mine cut (much shorter than originally planned!) a few days later.  Tyler was less than cooperative taking a picture with me that day.  Tyler was very happy when Dan took him to an indoor playground.  He also had playdates with his friends Noah & Baby Alex, & one with Zachary, Baby Austin, Noah, & Alex.  I took him to the library twice, and on our way one day it was so cold, yet we passed two people walking outside wearing shorts.  I started to quietly pass judgment until I realized that Tyler was in the back seat wearing a Santa outfit.  He's been wearing the outfit at home all week but really wanted to wear it to the library.  Thankfully we only made it past the front desk before he was ready to take it off.  :-)

Dan watched the Superbowl at a restaurant with his friend Marco and had a great time.  Tyler and I were happy to have my parents over to keep us company during the 1st and 2nd quarters.  I told my dad that while he enjoys watching the actual football game, I like the singing & the commercials.  :-)  Tyler and I skipped the 3rd quarter but I was glad I watched the end of the game.

We watched Dolphin Tale, which was adorable.  I am way too excited for Dolphin Tale 2 to arrive on Netflix tomorrow.  :-)

A Gift

I've always heard people complain about the winter months; how it's difficult not to be able to go outside and how the darkness impacts their mood.  The winter has never really bothered me until this year.  While I've always considered myself as more of an indoor person who loves air conditioning, I think Tyler is turning me into more of an outdoor person.  I had forgotten just how much taking pictures outside boosts my mood.  And in the last few weeks especially, I have longed for our walks to the pier.  Yesterday, we got to take one!   The weather was a gift. :-)

Little Cutie

This week Tyler got to spend time with his grandparents, which always makes him very happy.  Dan and I got to go out for a quick lunch.  We went to a get together with our friends, Jen & Justin, Michelle & J, and Carrie & Pat, and all of their children.  There were seven boys running around!  We had a lot of fun and Tyler fell asleep on the way home.  He had a playdate with his friends, Noah & Baby Alex, and we took a trip to the library.  He had his second sports class.  I think I've realized he is not quite ready for organized sports but we still have six classes to go.  They will be interesting for sure!  Dan and I decided on a preschool for Tyler for next year which is exciting and a big relief.  :-)

Tyler has been calling me "little cutie" (which is adorable) and when I ask him if he wants to help me with something, he will say, "You bet I do!" or "You bet I will!"  :-)

An Interesting Week

This week, Tyler and I had a quick Starbucks date with my friend, Kate, then we went to my parents' house.  When we got home later in the day, I realized I was getting sick.  :-(  The next day I could barely move off the couch and poor Tyler was very bored (and missed his soccer class).  I finished reading Big Little Lies (which I loved!), Tyler watched way too much tv, and we were soo happy when Dan got home from work.  Over the three day weekend we took Tyler to the library and to an indoor playground.  Tyler and I went to my parents' house to watch one of the playoff games (Dan enjoyed watching the game in a quiet house for once!)  The next day Dan took Tyler to a different indoor playground so I could paint.  I gave myself 48 hours to paint our table, four chairs, and an end table.  I've never gone to Home Depot so many times in one week.  :-)  I had fun painting the two tables and a chair and then I was completely over my project...with three chairs to go.  Tyler said, "You are painting everything!  What are you going to paint next?  The couch?!"  If only that were an option.  :-)  I wanted everything done by Wednesday morning because we were going to have four guests over that day.  But Tyler woke up and said, "My ear hurts!" so the only person we saw that day was the doctor.  :-(  Poor little guy.

First Sports Class

This week Tyler had his first sports class!  We arrived ten minutes early and met his coach, who said Tyler could kick around a soccer ball before the class started.  I sat down and then watched, stunned, as he kicked the ball from one side of the field to the other.  He never stopped!  I grabbed my video camera and caught him kicking the ball back toward me.  He did a great job warming up in the middle of the field but once the actual class started, he didn't last too long.  There was a moon bounce set up on another field and it was all he could think about!  His coach was very sweet and suggested we come back to another class later in the week.  Five minutes later he was bouncing up and down on the moon bounce with a huge smile on his face.

Dan had his krav maga test this week and passed!  He is now a level 5.  He took the level 1 test right before Tyler was born and I have photos of him holding Tyler and all of the certificates for the level 2, 3, 4, and 5 tests.  We are so proud of him!  When he called to say he had passed and was on his way home, Tyler and I quickly made signs and put them up.  Tyler also wore his Ravens jersey to watch the game with Dan.  It was a very exciting game even though they lost.

Tyler got to spend time with my parents this week, he had a playdate with his friends, Dylan, Reed, and Baby Lily, and we went to the library.  He also had a great time at my nephew Ben's 6th birthday party!  I had a girls night with my friends, Jen & Michelle.  :-)

New Year, New Rug

Tyler was very happy that it snowed this week!  He did a great job helping Dan shovel the driveway.  :-)   On New Years Day, we went to Dan's mom's house to see Caroline, Brian, and Baby Liam one more time before they had to fly back to California.  We were so happy to have them here for the holidays and are very excited that we'll be seeing them again in August!  I took a few more pictures of Tyler with our tree and then we put all of our Christmas stuff away (though I kept some of the "snow" items out!)  Once I started adding teal to our family room, my friend Vanessa told me that I should incorporate shades of gray as well.  After falling in love with a gray rug from Pottery Barn (which we did not buy!) I started to agree with her.  Luckily a girl in my photography group told me about an amazing rug sale and less than a week later, we have a new rug.  Tyler has been helping me organize the house (which could go on forever) and rearrange.

Tyler and I took a trip to the library and to an indoor playground.  He had a playdate with Noah and Baby Alex and one with Zachary, Baby Austin, Noah, and Alex.  Dan and I were counting down to our five hour (!) date, which included a movie (Wild - I loved the book and the movie, too) and dinner at Melting Pot.  Tyler loved spending all that time with my parents.  We had a visit from Dan's friend Marco, I had lunch with my friend Chrissy, and dinner with my friends, Barbara and Leigh.  I should have put more effort into Tyler's "once every three months" carebear picture, but this was the best we could do.  :-)  I can't believe the next time we take the picture, he will be four years old.
